Anthony Lucarelli commits to LIU

The Kings are very happy to announce that captain Anthony Lucarelli has committed to play NCAA hockey at Long Island University next season!

“Obviously I’m very excited” says Lucarelli “It’s been a long journey and I’m so happy that it finally happened.”

The 20 year old from Chatham Ontario is the longest tenured King on the roster and is in the early portions of his third season in Powell River. So far Lucarelli has played 116 total games in green & gold scoring 41 times and adding 44 helpers. Like many players, Lucarelli is off a great start this season with 6 goals and 8 assists in 15 games.

Lucarelli becomes the third active BCHL player to have a commit to the New York based school, which is a relatively new team in Division I hockey, with this season being only their 4th. When asked about why he chose the Sharks Lucarelli said “I feel like it’s a great place to develop as a player. I recently had a zoom call with them and I liked everything they showed me. From that point I knew I wanted to spent the next four years there.”

With his goal of getting a commit now accomplished, Lucarelli is now solely focused helping his Kings turn things around. “Our team goal is to start winning games” he adds “I think we’re picking it up here and we’re not far off. We just got to keep striving and the wins will come.”
