The Kings are proud to announce the signing of 2004 born Italian forward Niccolò Mansueto.
Mansueto hails from Vernona in the northern part of Italy but he has spent the last 5 seasons playing junior hockey in Switzerland. The last 3 seasons he has played for Lugano U20 in the Swiss junior league and compiled 35 goals and 61 assists in 115 regular season games. “Niccolò has a nice release on his shot and has good hands in tight areas” says Assistant G.M. Stephan Seeger Jr. “He plays a fiery game with a lot of passion and creativity.” This past season he set career highs in goals, assists, and points with the Swiss Club scoring 18 goals, and collecting 32 assists, for a total 50 points in 48 games. The twenty year old Italian has also represented his country at the national level competing in the third tier of the 2022 World U18 Championships. In 5 games he has a goal and 2 assists as Italy won the bronze medal.
Mansueto will look to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Simone Dadiè who took the Kings by storm last season instantly becoming a fan favorite and a top player in the BCHL. While those are some big shoes to fill for the new Italian forward, Mansueto is looking to make his own mark and help the team win hockey games. “He is the kind of young man who hates to lose” adds Seeger Jr. “he does everything in his power to help his team win. We are excited to see his transition to the North American Ice and into the Powell River community.”
