Kings drop 2 games in the Okanagan

Coming off 3 straight wins and a dominant performance over the Coquitlam Express, the Kings rolled into the Okanagan for the first time since 2019 on the weekend looking to finish off the month of October on a high note.

It started on Friday with a visit to Royal Lepage Place in West Kelowna to take on the Warriors. It was a back and forth affair as the Kings held 1 goal leads in each of the 3 periods but were quickly relinquished as the Warriors would tie it up each time. Sam Belanger and Aaron Neal scored their first goals of the season while Mark D’Agostino potted in his 4th on the power play in the 3rd. As regulation wound down the Kings had a man advantage and in the dying seconds in appeared that Mark D’Agostino scored with 2 seconds left on the clock. The Kings would celebrate thinking they won the game however the officials waved off the goal saying it didn’t cross the line as Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrek just kept it out. The Kings would take the PP to overtime but failed to get a shot on net. The teams would trade chances back and forth the rest of OT before the Warriors were able to put in the game winner with 10 seconds left in the extra frame to win 4-3. It would be a tough loss for the Kings but they managed to get a point in their 4th straight game.

Looking to continue the point streak the Kings took on the Penticton Vees on Saturday in the always tough. South Okanagan Events Centre. The Vees came into this game with only 1 loss on the year and a 5 game winning streak vs the Kings. The Vees got off to an early start as Bradley Nadeau scored the opener within the first 2 minutes for his first of 3 in the period and 4 during the game. The Vees would never look back scoring 14 more times during the game to gain the lopsided victory 15-1. Anthony Lucarelli scored the lone goal for the Kings early in the 2nd period for his 3rd goal of the season.

Despite the rough loss on Saturday the Kings completed a very successful stretch to finish off the month of October. After starting the season 0-4 the Kings would go 3-1-1 over the next 5 games and finish off the opening month of the season at 3-5-1.

The Kings will finally return home for the first time since the opening weekend this Friday November 5th and Saturday November 6th as the Chilliwack Chiefs come to town. Both games will start at 7pm.
