The BC Hockey League has announced the game schedule for the 2020-21 exhibition season, leading up to the start of the regular season in early December.
The Powell River Kings will open their exhibition season on the road against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. PT. The lone home game for the Kings will be played Saturday, November 14 at 1:30 p.m. PT also with the Capitals, who are the only opponent during exhibition play.
“Due to the maximum cohort size of four teams, the Kings are only able to participate in a two team cohort with the Cowichan Valley Captials for our exhibition season,” said Kings General Manager Chad van Diemen. “We would like to thank the ownership and coaching staff in Cowichan for their cooperation in finalizing the schedule.”
“We believe it’s important to have our players playing meaningful games during this extended period before the start of our regular season, in order to stay engaged and game-ready leading into December,” said BCHL Executive Director Steven Cocker. “Our teams are working within the guidelines to provide our players with a high level of development on and off the ice.”
With the extended training camp, the exhibition season will be significantly expanded compared to years past, with over 100 games scheduled across the league.
